Youth The Youth/Young Adult Department of the Women's Auxiliary began as the Junior Work in 1932. Mrs. P. J. Tolbert presided at the first session with different Junior Circles reporting. As the Junior Work gained momentum, it was incorporated in the constitution as the Junior Department to the Women's Auxiliary with its own slate of officers. The Junior Department became a training venture for the Youth and the Young Adults in affording them opportunities to become leaders, participants in public speaking, dramatic and cultural activities, and become officers as well. In order to include as many youth as possible, and also accommodate late teens and mid twenties, consideration was given to renaming the Junior Work to Youth and Young Adults Department of the Women's Auxiliary. The Youth and Young Adult Department has become a unified group, and has progressed rapidly under the direction, guidance, and supervision of its organizers, adult presidents, and directresses. It is our desire that our Youth and Young Adults strive for excellence and fulfill their ambitions and dreams as useful and productive citizens of our society, and in turn, pass the torch of inspiration and zeal on to others, so they may have similar experiences and opportunities.
