Rev. Alex Turner, Pastor

In 1980, Rev. Alex Turner was installed as Pastor of Belview Baptist and he has held this position for the past twenty-five years. During this time, his vision for the people of God has led us to have Sunday worship services every Sunday. We also began a building fund, which has enabled us to make many changes. A baptismal pool has been installed, classroom and office space has been added and our fellowship hall has been refurbished. Our growth physically could not have taken place had we not grown spiritually.

God has really blessed as we have walked through His Word, not only on Sunday mornings, but also in Wednesday evening Bible Study, Sunday School and in New Converts’ Classes. We attend Bible Retreats, Bible Conferences and other times of refilling and refreshing. We gather on Sunday evenings now for service to keep us steadfast in the Word. We reach out to others through our radio broadcast “Faith Outreach Ministry” and we have secured land with further ministry in mind.

In 1991, Evangelist Georgianna Turner, wife of Pastor Alex Turner, organized a New Converts Class, strengthened the Sunday School and assisted in Bible Study. Over the years she has organized and advised the Youth Department and organized and served as President of the Women’s Auxiliary. She has been instrumental in the Sunday School and uses her ministry and teaching gifts in Wednesday night Bible Study.

There have been three ministers who have gone out into the vineyard from Pastor Turner. They are Minister Josephine Trollinger, Minister Kimberly T. Leath and Minister Jeffrey Gunn. Ministers currently serving are: Evangelist Georgianna Turner and Minister Jeffrey Gunn. Deacons ordained have been Herman Enoch, Jr., Bobby Gunn and David Presley.

Pastor Turner is a great man of faith and patience and he has a heart for God’s people. The love comes from a heart to do the will of God. He has endured and stands upon God’s promises that if a man will suffer with Him he will reign with Him.

Ever giving of himself and his resources, God has blessed him for this giving heart that reaches out to help. He has sown so abundantly and God’s word tells us that if a man sows sparingly, he will reap sparingly; but if he sows abundantly, he shall reap abundantly.

We thank God for His rich blessing in sending Pastor Turner to us. We know that it had to be God for He is just what we need for such a time as this.

We now go forward as God leads to do those things that He has ordained that this body of believers should accomplish. We know not to attempt God’s work in our might so we rely on the Holy Ghost and walks as He dictates.

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
